We were in our early 60s when we moved to Courtyard Gardens.
We first discovered Courtyard Gardens while looking for somewhere for my parents to downsize. But after seeing it for ourselves, we fell in love with the place and decided to move here too!
It turned out to be a wonderful decision. Our spacious freehold house was exactly what we were looking for and represented fantastic value for money.
We were both still working when we moved here, as were many of the other residents. There was also a lovely mix of people who were semi-retired and fully retired, creating a really diverse and welcoming community. The Residents' Association works closely with the management company, which also gives residents a real say in how the development is run.
Nestled in a beautiful village, with easy access to Gatwick, the coast, London and Sevenoaks, we have absolutely no regrets about our decision to move here.
Twelve years on, Courtyard Gardens still feels like living in an ordinary residential street, where you have your own privacy and independence, but with the added sense of community and belonging that comes from living amongst such lovely people and in such stunning surroundings.
Residents very rarely leave unless they need to move closer to family, so if you are lucky enough to get the opportunity to join us here at Courtyard Gardens, take it!

I first visited Courtyard Gardens around 10 years ago and instantly fell in love with it. The peaceful surroundings, beautiful gardens and sense of privacy made such an impression on me that I remember saying, "One day, when I retire, this is where I want to live."
Life, though, doesn't always go to plan. After my family experienced a heartbreaking tragedy, everything changed. I knew I needed a fresh start somewhere I could find peace, look ahead and begin a new chapter.
As a result, I moved to Courtyard Gardens much earlier than I had ever expected. Working from home, I wanted somewhere that offered a calm and supportive environment, and that's exactly what I found.
Moving here has given me the tranquillity I was searching for. It has also given me greater financial freedom and the reassurance that I'm well prepared for whatever the future holds. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

We initially bought our home in 2011 as a base from which to travel. The benefit of a ‘lock & leave’ arrangement, with the gardens and maintenance taken care of in our absence, suited us.
Time has flown by, the gardens and the community have become a much more important part of our lives, and we have grown to place even greater value on the practical benefits of living on a managed estate. We don’t have to arrange gardeners, chase up the window cleaners or search out the best property insurance deal. Maintenance and repair of the buildings and the grounds, and the payment of the associated invoices, are all taken care of - our manager handles both the administration and frustration. Yes, we pay for it all by way of a service charge, but it’s good to know that problems get solved, often without most of us knowing there was an issue.
The service charge is budgeted to cover everything, is agreed by residents at the beginning of each year, and each household pays a share. Our Residents’ Association has successfully worked with the management team to control our costs whilst also ensuring that there is sufficient reserve fund available to cover unexpected and future expenses.
Courtyard Gardens is the ideal location in which to set aside time to just enjoy the more important things in life. We appreciate that there comes a time to sit back, let someone else handle life’s inconveniences, and to enjoy the gardens and friends.
